Kathmandu, Sept 10: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed deep concern over the loss of life during Nepal’s ongoing “Gen Z” protests.
In a statement shared on social media, Guterres conveyed his sorrow over the human toll and urged the Nepal government to ensure full adherence to human rights law. He also called on security forces to exercise restraint and appealed to demonstrators to protest peacefully while respecting life and property.
The Secretary-General emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the incidents and stressed that dialogue and non-violence are the only viable paths to resolving the crisis. He said he is closely monitoring developments in Nepal and urged all sides to act responsibly to prevent further escalation.
