Kathmandu, Jan 29: Chairman of the CPN (UML), KP Sharma Oli, has announced that the party was at work to prepare a manifesto that features viable programmes and ensures concrete outcomes over the next five years.
During a discussion with experts from various fields at the central office of the party, Chyasal on Thursday, Chairman Oli remarked that the manifesto was being prepared with the practical needs of the people. UML’s focus is on prioritizing the nation that meets the aspirations of the Nepalis for prosperity and happiness, he said, adding that national development, effective governance, and sustainable growth are other major characteristics in the manifesto.
The discussion was held with the experts in connection with the preparation for election manifesto.
He stressed the government must create a conducive environment for clean and fear-free election. The UML has established itself as a robust organization that has broad public support and recognition as the most popular party, Oli asserted.
According to him, the UML is committed to providing dynamic leadership to restore the nationalism, democracy, and the constitution which witnessed attacks during the September uprising in the country. Ensuring national security and strong national unity are equally important. The nationalism, sovereignty, national security, and dignity cannot be protected by words but action, Chairman Oli said.
The experts attending the discussion recommended that the party formulated the election manifesto in a way that directly benefits the citizens. Under Chairman Oli’s coordination, the UML had formed a seven-member committee tasked with drafting the manifesto.
The committee comprises Vice-Chairmen Ram BahadurThapa and Bishnu Prasad Paudel, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, and leaders Ishwar Pokharel, Pradeep Gyawali and Bishnu Rimal. The HoR election is scheduled for 5 March 2026.
