Kathmandu, Dec 16: Voting for a new leadership through the 11th National Congress of the CPN (UML) is scheduled to be held on Wednesday morning.
The voting scheduled to be held this evening has been postponed, shared Sanuraj Pokharel, Vice Chair of the party’s Central Election Commission. According to him, voting for the new leadership will begin at 8:00 am on Wednesday.
“The voting scheduled to begin this evening has been postponed due to a problem with the electronic voting machine,” he said. Earlier, delegates had lined up to vote after voting was scheduled to begin this evening.
About 660 people have registered their candidacies for the new 301-member executive committee. According to the party, 80 electronic voting machines will be used for the vote.
A total of 2,263 delegates will vote in the general congress that is set to see a competition for the post of chairman between current chair KP Sharma Oli and current senior Vice chair Ishwor Pokharel.
