UML CC meeting: Call to amend constitution

Kathmandu, Jan 7: The central committee meeting of the ruling CPN (UML) concluded on Tuesday by approving 14 different proposals including an amendment to the constitution.

The publicity department chief of UML, Rajendra Gautam, said that the CC meeting has vowed to develop the UML as a decisive national force to obtain the national aspiration of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’ and amend the constitution.

Concluding the CC meeting, UML Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli directed the party leaders to work for the implementation of the party decisions and plans of action by being clear on ideological and political fronts.

In his statement, Chairman Oli announced that anarchy and indiscipline has no space in the UML.

The CC meeting has asked the UML to advance the constitution amendment process by making an objective review of constitution based on its strengths and weaknesses.
The UML CC meeting has approved that the current alliance formed with the participation of Nepali Congress and UML has raised a hope for political stability in the country.

Expressing concerns to the exodus of youths for their failure to seize the opportunities within the country, the UML CC meeting has urged the government to advance the coming decade as a term for prosperity and employment generation.

The meeting has also drawn attention of the government to conclude the ongoing investigations on all sorts of scandals and stand stern against irregularities.
Likewise, the meeting has urged the government to ensure effective role of the state’s regulatory bodies to combat misinformation, disinformation and fake news while ensuring freedom of speech and freedom of expression as guaranteed by the constitution.

Similarly, the meeting has asked the party rank and file to utilize information technology and work to create hope and confidence on people through the positive achievements, success stories and progressive information.

The meeting has urged the party cadres to counter the malicious information.
The UML central committee meeting also condoled the loss of human lives caused due to a strong earthquake in Tibet of China happened on Tuesday morning.
