Janaki (Banke), July 9: Two women have died after being struck by lightning in Banke while another woman was injured.
The two women were planting paddy in Hariharpur village of Raptisonari rural municipality-2 Kachnapur, when they were hit by the sudden discharge of electricity from above the clouds. The deceased have been identified as 32-year-old Mejana BK and 32-year-old Basanti Upadhyay, said Deputy Superintendent of Police of District Police Office Kohalpur Dharmaraj Bhandari.
Seriously injured in the incident, both died during treatment at the local hospital.
Meanwhile, Salina BK, 30,was seriously injured by the lightning and is undergoing treatment at the teaching hospital in Kohalpur, police said.
