Two hydel projects constructed in Rahughat

Myagdi, Oct 21: The Tundi Power Company has developed two hydropower projects simultaneously in Rahughat river in Raghuganga Rural Municipality in Myagdi district.

The power generated from the two projects was connected to the central grid system. The projects based on the run-of-river type have started commercial production following the test transmission, Manager of Tundi Power Company Pushpa Dangi said.

Dangi said the Chimkhola-Rahughat-Mangale Hydropower Project of 35.5 megawatt capacity and its cascade the Upper Rahughat Hydropower Project of 48.5 megawatt promoted by the Tundi Power Company have produced power.

The Chimkhola-Rahughat-Mangale Hydropower Project started commercial production since August while Upper Rahughat Hydropower Project is in the phase of its commercial production, according to Manager Dangi.

Completed in four years, the total development cost for the two hydropower projects remained around Rs 13 billion.

The electromechanical contractor of the projects is Everest Hydro, while hydro-mechanical part was completed by contracting company Machhapuchhre Metals and Machinery and the civil construction was carried out by the Ramechhap Sherpa Construction Company.

Chairman of Raghuganga Rural Municipality Bhaba Bahadur Bhandari said that construction of two more hydropower projects of 63.5 megawatt capacity are in the final phase in the rural municipality. Chairman Bhandari stated that Rahughat Hydropower Project and Upper Duikhola Hydropower Project are likely to be completed by the end of this year.
