Triveni (Rukum Paschim), Feb 11: Two persons including an eight-month-old infant died in a khukuri attack at Sakim, Bhume rural municipality-4 in Rukum (Purba) on Tuesday noon.
The deceased have been identified as Dhanti Budha, 60, and his grandson Samir Budha. The fateful incident took place on Tuesday noon while the elderly and the infant were at their home.
Chandra Singha Pun, 51, of the same place allegedly attacked the two with a khukuri (a traditional weapon), shared DSP Madhav Raj Kharel of District Police Office, Rukum (Purba).
As the police reached the accident site, the elderly and the infant were lying dead while the suspect Pun was also found dead later, informed DSP Madhav Raj Kharel of Rukum (Purba).
Alleged culprit Pun’s dead body was retrieved from a local stream. Police suspects that Pun might have committed suicide by jumping off the cliff after the murder.
Further investigation into the case is underway, according to the District Police Office, Rukum (Purba).
