Trump Sets 10-Day Deadline for Russia to End Ukraine War, Threatens New Sanctions

US President Donald Trump has announced a ten-day deadline for Russia to make tangible progress toward ending the war in Ukraine, warning that failure to comply would result in new sanctions.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One during his return flight from Scotland to the United States, Trump said the countdown begins Tuesday and will last no more than ten days.

Trump noted that he had shortened the original timeline from 50 days to 10, emphasizing the urgency of ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

The President confirmed he had not yet received a response from Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling the silence “shameful.â€

He stated that the US would impose additional tariffs and punitive measures on Moscow if there is no progress, though he acknowledged that such steps might not immediately alter Russia’s stance.
In response to potential repercussions on global energy markets, Trump added that the United States would ramp up domestic oil production to offset any disruptions.

Russia launched a full-scale military operation against Ukraine in February 2022, demanding that Kyiv abandon its ambitions to join Western military alliances as a condition for ending the conflict — a demand Ukraine has firmly rejected, considering it a blatant violation of its sovereignty.
