Kathmandu, Oct 31: Thirty-eight teams have been mobilized across 44 districts to assess the damages to public property, physical structures, and private enterprises during the September 8–9 Gen Z demonstrations. These teams will evaluate the damages and prepare reconstruction plans.
According to National Planning Commission (NPC) Assistant Spokesperson Dr Diwakar Luintel, the collection of loss details is planned to be completed by the upcoming week.
For uniformity and convenience in data collection, the Damages Assessment Survey Portal has been launched. The respective offices at local, provincial, and federal levels are required to submit the details of damages through this online system.
As Assistant Spokesperson Luintel stated, “Usernames and passwords have been provided to around 260 local levels across the 44 affected districts, as well as to all provincial and federal ministries and central agencies. The collected data and details must be uploaded to the survey portal.”
Earlier, during the Council of Ministers’ meeting on September 21, a five-member committee was formed, coordinated by the Secretary of the National Planning Commission, with the mandate to assess damages and prepare a reconstruction plan.
Similarly, under the coordination of the Commission’s Joint Secretary, a subcommittee has been formed to facilitate the committee. The subcommittee includes representatives at the sub-secretary level from the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers’ Office, the Ministries of Finance, Home, Federal Affairs and General Administration, Urban Development, and the National Disaster Risk Reduction Authority. A secretariat has been established under the leadership of the Commission’s Joint Secretary.

Additionally, for supervision, 11 teams have been deployed under the leadership of the Joint Secretary across all provinces and the Valley.
