T20 Series Cricket: Nepal ‘A’ victorious in second match

Kathmandu, Aug 29: Nepal ‘A’ has won in their second match under the ‘T20’ series. In the match held in Guwahati, India, Nepal ‘A’ registered their first victory in the ongoing series by defeating the home team Assam by 96 runs.

Assam, who were chasing the target of 174 runs set by Nepal, were successful in making 77 runs in 15.2 overs. Ruhinandan Pegu scored the highest for Assam with 17 runs, Shivshankar Roy made 16 runs, and Aakash Sengupta scored 10 runs.

Towards bowling, Nepal’s Yuvraj Khatri took four wickets, Basir Ahmed three, and Kamal Singh Airi, Akash Chand, and Vivek Kumar Yadav took one wicket each. Earlier, after winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Nepal scored a total of 173 runs losing seven wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

Sandeep Jora contributed the most with 35 runs for Nepal. Similarly, Pawan Sarraf and Dev Khanal both scored 31 runs each, while Basir Ahmad scored 27, Vivekumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 26, and Adil Alam Ansari scored 14 runs.

In bowling, Akash Sen Gupta took three wickets, Abhinav Chaudhary took two, and Ayushman Malakar and Abhilash Gogoi took one wicket each for Assam.

In the first match held on Thursday, Nepal ‘A’ was defeated by Assam by 15 runs based on the Duckworth-Lewis method (DLS).

Along with this, Nepal has drawn 1-1 in the series of five matches against Assam. The third match will be held on Saturday.
