‘Struggles needed to safeguard national sovereignty’

Kathmandu, Jan 15: CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has urged the party cadres to be on the frontline to safeguard national sovereignty and work for prosperity.

Releasing a book written by Saresh Nepal here on Thursday, the former Prime Minister argued that his party was determined to ensure prosperity in the country.

The book Jailbhitraka Sangharsha (translated as Struggle in Jail) was released on the occasion of the 42nd Piskar Martyr Memorial Day.

On the occasion, Oli recalled the Piskar account as a historic and brave chapter in the democratic movement and asked party leaders and cadres to work in a fearless manner by being dedicated to the people’s urge for transformation and martyrs’ ideals of sacrifice.

In a separate context, Oli took exception to the decision of the Office of the Attorney General to withdraw charges against Rastriya Swatantra Party’s President Rabi Lamichhane on organized crime and money laundering.

During the programme, communist leader Meghraj Paudel was honoured.
