Kathmandu, Oct 5: Deepak Silwal of Terhathum, who had been staging fast-onto-death at Shantibatika in Kathmandu demanding arrangement of air ambulance to make air rescue effective, has broken his fast on Saturday.
Silwal had been staging hunger strike for the past one month. He broke the fast following the signing of a five-point agreement between Under-Secretary at the Home Ministry Dil Kumar Tamang, and Silwal.
At a programme organized at Home Ministry on Saturday, Silwal took a sip of juice offered by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
On the occasion, Minister Lekhak said the ministry was committed to implement the agreement while terming issues raised by Silwal as serious and genuine.
He expressed the commitment to move ahead incorporating the demands put forth by Silwal by amending the Air Rescue Procedure.
The Home Minister mentioned that Silwal’s pressure was the peaceful exercise done in a democratic manner.
Similarly, Information Officer at the Home Ministry Tamang shared that the five-point deal has incorporated the demand for making emergency air rescue further effective by reviewing the existing air rescue. It also incorporated managing necessary means and resources and putting in place a dedicated mechanism.
