Seven tourists die of altitude sickness in seven months

Mustang, April 7: Seven tourists died of high altitude sickness in the last seven months in Mustang district.

Among the total casualties, four are foreign nationals. Six male and one female tourist died in seven months due to sickness in high altitude, according to the District Police Office.

Information officer at District Police Office, Ishwor Mahat, said among the foreign nationals who died during trekking three were from India and one from Mexico. The age of the victims ranges from 41 to 75.

The Nepali national died of altitude sickness was 75-year-old Madhav Prasad Sharma Uprety, a resident 0f Mahalaxmi municipality-4, Lalitpur. He succumbed to sickness on October 10, 2025. He died at Gharpajhong-4 of Jomsom.

Similarly, Jagat Bahadur Timilsina, 50, from Balephi rural municipality-8 of Sindhupalchowk died on October 26, 2025, the police added.

Sarita Budhathoki, 41, from Thori rural municipality-4 of Parsa losing her life during trekking in high altitude. She died four days back.

The foreign tourists lost lives on various dates.
