Seven killed, 10 injured in jeep accident in Rukum West

Kathmandu, Oct 24:  At least seven people were killed and 10 others injured when a jeep plunged some 700 meters off a road in Banphikot Rural Municipality–7, Lisne, Rukum West, on Wednesday evening.

According to the District Police Office, Rukum West, the jeep (registration number Ra 1 Ja 422) was heading to Syalakhadi in Aathbiskot Municipality–2 from the district headquarters Khalanga when the accident occurred.

Police Inspector and Information Officer Hari Prasad Pun said seven people died on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Kamala Wali, 30; Tekjung Budha, 16; Dilmaya Budha, 15; Manika Wali, 17; Sharmila BK, 18; and Gopal Wali, 22 — all residents of Aathbiskot–2 — along with one person whose identity is yet to be confirmed.

The injured have been rescued and taken to the District Hospital in Salle for treatment.
Police said further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
