SC demands written response from Thapa

Kathmandu, April 29: The Supreme Court (SC) has decided to demand written response from Nepali Congress (NC) general secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa in a contempt of court case.

A divisional bench of acting Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla and Justice Nityananda Pandey issued the order today.

“In the context of Article 105 of the Constitution, considering the sensitivity of the judicial process of conducting fair justice in the cases pending before the court, it should not be allowed to make any statement which adversely affects the cases pending before the court,” reads the order.

It may be noted that leader Thapa had made remarks that the apex court had been dealing with the case of 52 constitutional office-bearers.

Advocate Ananta Raj Luitel had filed a contempt of court petition demanding action against Thapa for contempt of the court.
