Kathmandu, Jan, 10: Ujyaalo Nepal Party Chair Kulman Ghising on Saturday accused the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) of unilaterally breaking the unity agreement.
Speaking at a press conference on Saturday evening, Ghising said Ujyaalo Nepal waited 12 days for the implementation of the agreement, but no progress was made. He said efforts to reach a supplementary agreement on fundamental constitutional issues also failed due to differences with the RSP.
Ghising said the delay and eventual collapse of the agreement caused significant distress to supporters of Ujyaalo Nepal. He alleged that the RSP kept his party engaged in the process without taking concrete steps to implement the deal.
Rejecting reports of bargaining for positions, Ghising said he neither sought the post of prime minister nor party chair and was even willing to remain an ordinary member, but the proposal was not accepted by the RSP.
Wishing the RSP well going forward, Ghising said the Ujyaalo Nepal Party would now pursue its own independent course.
