RCB thrash CSK by 43 runs to register second straight win in IPL

Agency, April 6: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured their second consecutive victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a commanding 43-run win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Sunday night’s clash.

Chasing a massive target of 251 runs, Chennai were bowled out for 207 in 19.4 overs.

For Chennai, Sarfaraz Khan top-scored with a brisk half-century, smashing 50 off 25 balls, including eight fours and two sixes. Prashant Veer contributed 43, while Jamie Overton added 37. Anshul Kamboj scored 19 and Shivam Dube made 18, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to make significant contributions.

For Bengaluru, Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the bowling attack with 3 wickets for 41 runs in his four overs. Jacob Duffy, Abhinandan Singh, and Krunal Pandya claimed two wickets each, while Suyash Sharma chipped in with one.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being asked to bat first in Bengaluru, RCB posted a mammoth 250/3 in 20 overs.

The home side was powered by a late blitz from Tim David, who played a sensational unbeaten knock of 70 off 25 balls, hammering eight sixes and three fours. Devdutt Padikkal also impressed with a well-made 50 off 29 balls, hitting five fours and two sixes.

Captain Rajat Patidar narrowly missed out on a half-century, blasting 48 off just 19 deliveries with six sixes and one four. Phil Salt chipped in with 46, while Virat Kohli added 28.

For Chennai, Anshul Kamboj, Jamie Overton, and Shivam Dube took one wicket each.

With the win, RCB move to the top of the points table with four points from two matches, while CSK remain at the bottom after suffering their third straight defeat in as many games.
