Punjab Secures Second Consecutive Win in IPL

Kathmandu, April 2: Punjab Kings continued their winning momentum in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a commanding 8-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Kings on Tuesday night. This marks their second consecutive win in the tournament.

Chasing a target of 172, Punjab displayed a dominant batting performance, reaching 177/2 in just 16.2 overs. Prabhsimran Singh and captain Shreyas Iyer were the stars of the chase, both scoring crucial half-centuries. Singh dazzled with a blistering 69 off 34 balls, smashing 9 fours and 3 sixes, while Iyer played a solid knock of 53 off 30 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 3 fours. Nehal Wadhera added a valuable 43 runs, while Priyansh Arya chipped in with 8.

Lucknow’s bowling attack struggled to contain Punjab’s batters, with Digvesh Rathi being the lone bright spot, taking 2 wickets for 30 runs in his 4-over spell.

Earlier, after being put in to bat first, Lucknow managed to post 171/7 in 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran top-scored with 44 runs, while Ayush Badoni contributed 41. Aiden Markram (28), Abdul Samad (27), and David Miller (19) also made notable contributions.

Punjab’s bowling unit delivered an impressive performance, with Arshdeep Singh leading the attack by taking 3 wickets. Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Maxwell, Marco Jansen, and Yuzvendra Chahal each picked up a wicket to restrict Lucknow’s batting lineup.

With this victory, Punjab has climbed to second place on the points table with 4 points from two matches. Meanwhile, Lucknow, having played one extra match but securing only 2 points, currently sits in sixth place.
