President Paudel receives Tihar ‘tika’ from his two sisters

Kathmandu, Oct 23: President Ramchandra Paudel has received this year’s Tihar tika from his younger sisters Sharada Pandit and Chanda Ojha at the auspicious hour of 11:39 am at the President House, Shital Niwas today, the President’s Private Secretariat stated.

The Nepal Calendar Determination Committee had set 11.39 am as the auspicious time for this year’s Bhai Tika today.

The Committee has stated that even though the best time for the Bhai Tika rituals has been decided, the rituals of giving and receiving ‘tika’ can be conducted throughout the day.

The Bhai Tika ritual involves sisters applying the ‘five-colour-tika’ on the forehead of their brothers and the brothers reciprocating to their sisters. The Bhai Tika rituals are observed on the last day of the five-day-long Yama Panchak or Tihar festival, the second biggest festival of Nepal.
