Kathmandu, March 6: Pushpa Kamal Dahal, popularly known as Prachanda and chair of the Communist Party of Nepal, has been elected to the House of Representatives from Rukum East District.
Prachanda secured a commanding 10,240 votes, outpacing his rivals by a wide margin. Lilamani Gautam of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) received 3,462 votes, while Kushum Devi Thapa of the Nepali Congress garnered 3,081 votes, the Election Officer’s Office reported.
Voter turnout in Rukum East reached 19,188, reflecting strong participation in the election.
