KATHMANDU, March 17: Regular commercial charter flights would be operated at Pokhara International Airport from Chengdu of China on the occasion of 70th year of establishment of Nepal-China diplomatic relations.
Sichuan Airlines is going to operate regular commercial charter flight for the first time at Pokhara International Airport from Tuesday.
The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) believes that this flight would take tourism promotion and cultural exchange to a new height through direct regional air connection between Nepal and China.
A press release issued by the NTB on Sunday reads, “Pokhara-Chengdu air service will make it easy for people from mid and western Nepal to avail aviation service as well as provide opportunity to Chinese tourists to visit a beautiful city, Pokhara.”
“The air connectivity will play significant role in increasing arrival of foreign tourists in Nepal by helping ‘Visit Nepal 2025’ declared by Chinese government and ‘Pokhara Tourism Year’ campaign declared by the government of Nepal”, added the statement.
A Nepali delegation is scheduled to join the ‘Pokhara-Chengdu Flight Promotion and China (Sichuan) Sales Mission 2025’ in a commercial charter flight from Chengdu to Pokhara.
The Nepali delegation would participate in the meeting with delegations of different government and private sectors in Chengdu, Chongqing, Leshan, Emei Shan, among the other cities of China.
This move would further help to establish Nepal as international tourism destination as well as to deepen cultural exchanges between the two countries, shared the NTB.
Currently Sichuan Airlines operates daily flight from Chengdu to Kathmandu.
