Kathmandu, July 4: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Hit Bahadur Tamang has said that compared to the past physical structures have been added gradually at the Manthali Airport in Ramechhap district.
Inaugurating the Manthali Tourism Promotion Programme organized by Manthali Municipality here today, the Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister said, “The number of flights from here have increased by 20 percent compared to the past following the timely improvement of the airport. Infrastructures have been added at the airport.”
He expressed the commitment to make efforts to place the Manthali Airport in priority as the budget formulation of the Civil Aviation Authority, among other offices under the Ministry, is in progress.
Minister Tamang called on the local levels to take initiatives for the promotion of touristic places throughout the country.
Bagmati Province Government Minister of Culture, Tourism and Cooperatives, Shailendra Man Bajracharya expressed concern over the displacement of indigenous traditions and heritages due to the construction of new infrastructures.
He said the provincial government is working vigorously for the development of the touristic places by conserving their indigenous culture and heritages. The province government minister also expressed the commitment that the Bagmati provincial government will support in the development of Manthali which has religious, cultural, historical and touristic importance.
Mayor of Manthali municipality Lav Shrestha shared that the local government is committed to developing Manthali as a tourism destination coordinating with the provincial and federal government.
He said Manthali which remains as the ‘midpoint’ linking India and China is exploring ways to reap benefits from the Sunkoshi Marin Diversion Project, literary tourism, agriculture and forest tourism and cultural and nature tourism.
