Party not liable for personal mistakes: NC General Secretary Thapa

Kathmandu, Sept 6: Kathmandu, Sept 6: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa has stated that political parties, as institutions, are not inherently at fault; rather, it is the individuals associated with them who may commit wrongdoings.

During his address to a programme entitled “BP’s Ideology and Contemporary Nepali Politics”, organized by the party today, Thapa stressed the need for internal reform and purification within the NC.
“The Nepali Congress has earned its identity as a national party since its inception. The party itself neither suffers nor bears the responsibility for mistakes committed at the personal level. Those who make mistakes must bear the consequences themselves,” he asserted.

Thapa utilised the platform to highlight the relevance of BP Koirala’s ideology in the present political context. He urged the party and its senior leaders to remain committed to BP’s principles.
He further emphasized that the NC should remain free from fear and greed, stating, “It does not matter whether the party is in government or not.”

According to him, the party must rid itself of election-related fears and be confident enough to face electoral tests.
