Over 8,800 girls in Jumla to get HPV vaccine

Jumla, Jan 11: More than 8,800 girls in Jumla district would be vaccinated with HPV vaccine against cervical cancer.

Under the government’s National Immunization Programme, 7,243 girl students from Grade 6 to 10 of community and private schools in the district would get HPV vaccine against cervical cancer, said Chief of the Public Health Service Office, Jumla, Krishna Sapkota.

All local levels of Jumla district have been collecting data for launching the immunization programme. The nationwide vaccination programme would be launched from February 4 to 18.

In case of Jumla, discussion was underway with the health unit of local levels for launching the vaccination programme, as the community schools would be opened from mid-February.

Sapkota added that preparation was underway to immunize 8,829 to 1,586 girls, who are out of the school, and 7,243 girl students aged 10 to 14 from the community and private schools.

In case of girls out of the school, they would be vaccinated against cervical cancer based on their birth certificates.
