Oli insists on political dialogue to build election-friendly atmosphere

Kathmandu, Oct 18: CPN (UML) Chair KP Sharma Oli has argued that an atmosphere conducive to the election announced for March 5, 2025, will not be created in the absence of dialogue among political parties.

Speaking at a reception held in Chyasal-based party’s central office today, the former Prime Minister said it would be challenging to hold the election while 1,200 arms and over 100,000 bullets, according to police, have been looted, and more than 5,500 prisoners who escaped during the recent Gen Z demonstrations have not yet returned.

Acknowledging the Gen Z movement’s demands for an end to corruption and the promotion of good governance, he said, ” However, we cannot support unlawful activities carried out in the name of the movement.” He further asserted that the election should not be held in a ‘fearful’ atmosphere.
