Kathmandu, May 8: Nepali national women’s football team star striker Sabitra Bhandari, popularly known as ‘Samba’, netted a stunning hat-trick in France’s top-division league. On Wednesday night, Bhandari’s heroics powered En Avant de Guingamp to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Saint-Étienne.
Playing on home turf, Bhandari scored in the 57th minute, the 85th minute, and once more in the fifth minute of second-half injury time to seal the win for her side. With this performance, she has now scored six goals in the league. Earlier in the season, she had also netted twice against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Despite the win, Guingamp has been relegated. The club finishes the league campaign with just 9 points from 22 matches, ending at the bottom of the standings.
