Solukhumbu, May 21: Minister for Defence Manbir Rai asserted that the Nepali Army (NA) is capable of dealing with any kind of problems or disaster that may arise in the country.
At an interaction organized by the Ministry of Defence at Salleri in Solukhumbu today, Minister Rai shared that NA has been equipped to respond to any kind of natural disaster, crisis and emergency.
Minister Rai lauded the NA’s active and rapid response in dealing with disasters such as flood, landslide, and outburst of glacial lakes, inundation and earthquake among others.
Commending the exemplary role of the NA in saving lives during glacial lake outburst in Thame in Solukhumbu last year, the Minister appreciated the organization that has been discharging its duties according to the nation’s needs.
NA’s contribution spans conserving national parks and safeguarding wildlife including protecting the UNESCO-enlisted Sagarmatha National Park the district houses, acknowledged the Minister.
He particularly highlighted the NA’s effective role in environment conservation, disaster response efforts and forging coordination with the communities besides its role in national security.
The interaction was attended by Nepali Army, Armed Police Office, representatives from the Sagarmatha National Park and people’s representatives in the district.
