Kathmandu, July 2: Nepal continued their impressive run in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers, securing a second straight victory with a commanding 8-0 win over Sri Lanka on Wednesday evening.
Captain Sabitra Bhandari led the charge with a brilliant hat-trick, while Gita Rana added two goals. Puja Rana, Rekha Paudel, and Nisha Thokar each scored one to complete the rout. Nepal netted four goals in each half, showcasing dominance from start to finish.
With this win, Nepal sits in the group with 6 points from two matches. Sri Lanka, having lost both of their games, remains without a point.
Nepal will now face Uzbekistan in the final group-stage match. A win there would secure Nepal’s spot in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup.
