Nepal suffer first defeat in SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship

Kathmandu, Jan 17: Nepal suffered their first defeat of the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship after going down 8–1 against India in a one-sided encounter on Saturday afternoon.

The match, played at the Nonthaburi Stadium in Bangkok, saw India dominate proceedings with an impressive attacking display. Diti Kamlesh Kanungo led the scoring for India with four goals, while Ritika Singh added two. Nishka Parkash and Khushbu Kashiram Saroj chipped in with one goal each to complete the rout.

Nepal managed a consolation goal through Manisha Thapa Magar, who found the net in the game.

Despite the heavy loss, Nepal had started the tournament on a positive note. They opened their campaign with a convincing 5–1 victory over the Maldives after settling for a 2–2 draw against Sri Lanka.
