Kathmandu, Oct 17: The ongoing Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Nepali Congress is holding discussions on the party’s upcoming 15th general convention and the House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5, 2026.
The four-year term of the NC’s incumbent central committee is ending by mid-December and the HoR elections are scheduled to take place on March 5.
The ongoing CWC meeting presided over by Acting President Purna Bahadur Khadka has dwelt on party’s leadership, creating conducive environment for polls and bringing the country back to the constitutional track.
Citing his health issue, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba on October 14 assigned Vice President Khadka as the party’s Acting President.
On Friday, the third day of the meeting, 25 leaders shared their views.
Leader Dilendra Prasad Badu opined to move ahead by unanimously setting the schedule for convening the general convention by mid-December.
NC central office’s chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel said that the leaders are sharing their views on 10 different proposals tabled by party general secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa. The next meeting is to hold at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
