Karnali, March 6: Mahendra Bahadur Shahi of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has been elected to the House of Representatives from Kalikot.
According to the Office of the Chief Election Officer in Kalikot, Shahi secured 11,338 votes in the election held on Thursday. His nearest rival, Nagendra Shahi of CPN-UML, received 10,352 votes, while Nepali Congress candidate Harsha Bahadur Bam obtained 7,933 votes.
Other candidates included Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist), who garnered 4,599 votes, Prakash Nyaupane of the Rastriya Swatantra Party with 2,137 votes, and Nanda Bahadur Shahi of the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party with 597 votes, the election office said.
