Nationwide Curfew Imposed in Nepal

Kathmandu, Sept 10: In response to the escalating crisis, a nationwide prohibition order and curfew have been enforced across Nepal to maintain law and order.

The Nepal Army, expressing sorrow over the loss of lives and property during the protests, urged the public to support efforts to curb criminal activities. According to its statement, the prohibition order will remain in effect until 5 p.m. today (September 10), followed by a nationwide curfew from 5 p.m. until 6 a.m. tomorrow (September 11). Further decisions will be made after reviewing the situation.

The Army stated that unruly groups had infiltrated the protests, carrying out or attempting vandalism, arson, looting, violence, and even sexual assaults, prompting the strict measures.

Essential services, including ambulances, hearses, fire trucks, health workers, and security personnel, will be allowed to operate during the restriction. Citizens have been urged to coordinate with nearby security forces when necessary.

The Army warned that any acts of vandalism, looting, arson, or attacks on people and property in the name of protests would be treated as punishable crimes, with strict action taken against offenders. It also called on the public not to follow rumors but rely on official information.

Reaffirming its commitment to national unity and social harmony, the Army pledged to remain active in ensuring public safety and humanitarian support.
