Agency, May 2: Manchester United secured a comfortable victory in the UEFA Europa League, defeating Athletic Club 3-0 in the first leg of the semi-finals on Thursday night.
The match, held at San Mamés, saw Bruno Fernandes score twice and Casemiro add another to lead United to a dominant win. Casemiro opened the scoring in the 30th minute, giving United an early lead. Athletic Club was reduced to 10 men just five minutes later when Daniel Vivian received a red card in the 35th minute.
Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty in the 37th minute to double United’s advantage, and then added his second goal of the night in stoppage time of the first half, making it 3-0 before the break. The second half saw no additional goals from either side, sealing the win for Manchester United.
In the other semi-final played last night, Tottenham defeated Bodo 3-1 in their first-leg encounter.
The second leg of both semi-finals is scheduled for May 8.
