Lumbini Provincial Hospital excels in terms of MSS

Lumbini, March 26: The Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal has been adjudged as excelling in terms of the minimum service standard assessment.

The oldest hospital in western Nepal has excelled in the Minimum Service Standard (MSS) evaluation based on the services and facilities it provides.

For the past two years, the hospital has achieved excellence, and this year as well, it has improved to the ‘Secondary B’ level in the evaluation, scoring 90 points and becoming the first hospital in the country to provide excellent services.

Last year, the hospital scored 89 points and succeeded in being the first to provide excellent service in Nepal.

At the service evaluation review programme held in the hospital, a presentation was made on various aspects of the hospital including the available services, equipment, physical infrastructure, and human resources.

Health Minister of Lumbini Province, Khem Bahadur Saru, said that the situation where people showed reluctance to availing services at government hospitals has come to an end. He instructed the hospital management, staff and doctors to work in a way that is felt not only in evaluation scores but also by the people.

Dr Roshan Lal Chaudhary, Director of the Health Directorate, urged the stakeholders to further specialise the hospital services.

The hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Indra Dhakal stated that the results obtained in the minimum health service standards evaluation were not sufficient and that they are working with plans for further improvement.

Currently, the hospital is providing services through over 850 healthcare workers and staff, including 51 specialist doctors.
