Lumbini Province reports 22 per cent capital expenditure and 28 per cent current expenditure

Lumbini, Feb 20: The Lumbini Province government has spent 24.91 per cent of the total budget so far in the current fiscal year. In the current fiscal year, a budget of Rs 38.97 billion was allocated. Of this, Rs 24.58 billion was allocated towards capital and Rs 11.24 billion towards current expenditure.

In the half-yearly review organized today by the provincial government’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, it has been revealed that the capital expenditure is 22.83 per cent and the current expenditure is 28.47 per cent as per the data of the current fiscal year till February 15.

In the half-yearly review held at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya directed the subordinate bodies to pay special attention to the implementation and payment of the capital budget allocated in the current fiscal year.

He stressed the need to increase the expenditure effectively to address the criticism that the province government has not been able to spend capital.
“If the month of Baisakh could be made the month of final payment, many problems would have been solved,” Chief Minister Acharya said, adding that Lumbini Province has the best capital expenditure till Mid-February compared to other provinces.
