Luchknow, April 5:Lucknow Super Giants registered a thrilling win in the Indian Premier League (IPL), defeating Mumbai Indians by 12 runs in a high-scoring encounter on Friday night. This marks Lucknow’s second win of the season.
Chasing a daunting target of 203 runs, Mumbai Indians managed 191 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs, falling short by 12 runs. SuryakumarYadav led the charge with a solid 67, supported by NamanDhir with 46, skipper Hardik Pandya with 28, and TilakVarma contributing 25 runs.
Lucknow’s bowling unit delivered a collective effort, with Shardul Thakur, Akash Deep, Avesh Khan, and DigvijayRathi each picking up a wicket.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being sent in to bat, Lucknow posted a formidable total of 203/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh was the top scorer with a fluent 60, while Aiden Markram added 53. Ayush Badoni chipped in with 30 runs, David Miller scored 27, and Nicholas Pooran contributed 12.
Despite Mumbai’s loss, Hardik Pandya delivered a standout bowling performance, claiming 5 wickets for 36 runs in his 4 overs. Trent Boult, Ashwani Kumar, and VigneshPuthur also picked up a wicket each.
With this victory, Lucknow moved up to sixth place on the points table with 4 points from 4 matches. Mumbai, with 2 points from the same number of games, now sits in seventh place.
