Kathmandu, Dec 11: The globally recognized KUMON Education Programme has been officially launched in Nepal.
The educators, policymakers, and experts gathered in a seminar here Wednesday discussed the transformative impact of KUMON method, a programme designed to train students’ minds, enhance their IQ levels, and foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
An expert from Japan, Yoshikawa Yusuke, underlined the importance of innovative educational approaches in shaping the future of learning.
Similarly, Representative from KUMON Headquarters, Japan, Mitsuko Shimazoe, shared about the programme’s global success and its ability to empower students through self-paced, independent learning.
According to her, 10% of students are using the KUMON method globally, with four million students currently enrolled in 23,700 KUMON centers across 65 countries. “The KUMON method continues to impact millions of young minds, inculcating critical thinking and independent learning in a structured yet flexible environment,” Shimazoe argued.
On the occasion, Chairman of KUMON IGC Nepal, Ganesh Man Lama, also viewed that KUMON programme was centered on development of student’s mind rather than conventional teacher training or traditional educational methods. The program was specifically designed to develop the IQ levels of Nepali students, which he said would, equip them with lifelong skills for critical thinking, creativity, and academic excellence.
Chairman of N-PABSON, Subash Neupane, said it was imperative to integrate programs like KUMON to address learning gaps and prepare students for the demands of a rapidly evolving world.
The seminar also called the Nepali schools to adopt the KUMON programme.
