Inter Milan edge past Barcelona in thriller to reach UEFA Champions League Final

Agency, May 7: Italian club Inter Milan has secured their place in the UEFA Champions League final. In a thrilling second-leg semifinal clash held on Tuesday night, Inter edged past Barcelona 4-3 after extra time, winning 7-6 on aggregate. The first leg between the two sides had ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw.

Playing at San Siro, Inter Milan saw goals from Lautaro Martínez, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Francesco Acerbi, and Davide Frattesi—each contributing one goal. For Barcelona, Raphinha, Eric García, and Dani Olmo each found the back of the net.

Martínez opened the scoring for Inter in the 21st minute, giving the home side a 1-0 lead. Çalhanoğlu doubled the advantage just before halftime in the 45th minute.

Barcelona responded strongly in the second half, with García scoring in the 54th minute to make it 2-1, followed by a 60th-minute equalizer from Olmo. In the 87th minute, Raphinha gave Barcelona a 3-2 lead, seemingly putting them in control.

However, Inter struck back deep into stoppage time, with Acerbi scoring in the third minute of injury time to level the match at 3-3 and bring the aggregate score to 6-6, forcing extra time.

In the ninth minute of extra time, Frattesi netted the decisive goal to make it 4-3 for Inter. With no further goals in the remainder of extra time, Inter Milan emerged victorious with a 4-3 win on the night and a 7-6 aggregate triumph.

Inter will now face the winner of the semifinal between Arsenal and PSG, which takes place later today. The final is scheduled for May 31.
