Kathmandu, Jan, 26: Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has said he is heading to the Madhes with the aim of strengthening ties between the region and the capital.
Before leaving for Sarlahi on Monday, Thapa thanked voters of Kathmandu Constituency No. 4 through a video message shared on social media. He said he has reached this position on the basis of the love and trust of the people and expressed gratitude for the strong support and affection he received from the constituency.
Thapa has filed his candidacy from Sarlahi–4. Explaining his decision, he said his visit to the Madhes is intended to connect the region more closely with Kathmandu.
“I want to listen to the stories, struggles and pain of the Madhes and bring them to Kathmandu, and also take Kathmandu’s story to the Madhes,” he said, adding that deepening relations with the Madhes was both necessary and a personal priority.
He further said he travelled to Sarlahi to bow to the land of the Madhes and seek its blessings, while making it clear that he would not pursue politics of provocation.
