Hyderabad, April 7: Sunrisers Hyderabad’s struggles in the Indian Premier League (IPL) continued as they suffered their fourth consecutive defeat. In Sunday night’s clash, Gujarat Titans secured a commanding 7-wicket victory over Hyderabad.
Chasing a target of 153 runs, Gujarat comfortably reached the total in 16.4 overs, losing just three wickets. Captain Shubman Gill led from the front with an unbeaten 61, while Washington Sundar added a crucial 49 runs, and Sherfane Rutherford chipped in with 35.
For Hyderabad, Mohammad Shami was the standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 28 runs in his 4-over spell, while skipper Pat Cummins managed one wicket.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being put in to bat, Hyderabad posted a total of 152 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Nitish Kumar Reddy top-scored with 31 runs, followed by Heinrich Klaasen with 27, and Pat Cummins with 22. Aniketh Verma and Abhishek Sharma contributed 18 runs each.
Gujarat’s bowling attack was led by Mohammad Shami, who delivered a brilliant performance with 4 wickets for just 17 runs. Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore also made key contributions, claiming two wickets apiece.
With this win, Gujarat Titans have climbed to second place on the points table with 6 points from 4 matches. Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad, having played one game more, remain at the bottom of the table with just 2 points.
