Fikkal, March 9: The Nepali Congress (NC) candidate has been elected from Ilam constituency-1 in the House of Representatives (HoR) election.
Party candidate Nishcal Rai secured 14,543 votes to win the election, while his nearest competitor, Binod Kumar Nembang of the Shram Sanskriti Party, garnered 13,632 votes.
The final election results were announced by the Election Officer’s Office at 4:30 pm today.
This marks the first time in 26 years that the NC has won the HoR election from Ilam-1. CPN (UML) candidate Kajiman Kagate finished third with 11,966 votes, while the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) secured 7,665 votes.
A total of 13 candidates from 13 political parties contested the election in this constituency, with the remaining candidates failing to secure more than 1,000 votes each.
Out of 112,320 registered voters in the constituency, 64,104 cast their votes during the poll held on March 5.
