Kathmandu, Sept 8: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has tendered his resignation in the wake of Monday’s violent GenZ protests that left 19 people dead and more than 300 injured.
Lekhak submitted his resignation to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli during a cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Monday evening.
His decision follows mounting pressure from within the Nepali Congress, as General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma had called for his resignation on moral grounds during the party’s office-bearers’ meeting.
