Kathmandu, July 14: Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Balram Adhikari, has said that the government was working to resolve land related problems in the country.
In course of ministry-wise question-answer session in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Adhikari shared that different customary practices related with land would be abolished.
He mentioned that the government has been carrying out activities in order to initiate process to register land in the name of real farmers in coming fiscal year making necessary legal arrangements to resolve problems of Birta land.
The Land Management Minister opined that responsibility along with financial sources was handed over to local level in 2076 BS to make the government’s efforts for advancement of oppressed communities including freed Kamaiyas or bonded labourers more effective
The Land Problem Solution Commission would provide land to freed kamaiyas, Haliya, Kamlari, Balighare, Harawacharawa, Khali, Doli and Ukhada, who are yet to be managed, at the place they are residing, he added.
Minister Adhikari argued that many places have been facing Guthi related problems and law is being drafted by holding discussion with bodies concerned.
He further said preparation was underway to give final shape to the draft of Guthi Bill by addressing the concerns as Guthi is the most sensitive issue from religious and cultural perspective.
