Kathmandu, March 9: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, has stressed that projects and programmes costing less than Rs 30 million should not be proposed in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
He expressed this during the separate discussions held with the officials of the Ministry of Water Supply and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration here today. The discussions were held in connection with formulating budget for the next fiscal year.
On the occasion, Finance Minister urged the government ministries to come out of the tendency of incorporating numerous schemes and programmes in the budget and stressed the need to propose only big transformative and national priority projects and programmes for which preparations have already been done.
Finance Minister Paudel said that the role the province and local levels should be increased in the projects they are capable of executing and the projects and programmes within the scope of the province and local levels should be handed over to them for implementation even after giving seed capital for one time.
Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav, Minister for Federal Affairs Raj Kumar Gupta, National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice Chairman Shivaraj Adhikari, the Finance Secretary, the Revenue Secretary, the Water Supply Secretary and the Federal Affairs Secretary, among other officials, were present in the meeting.
