Kathmandu, March 28: Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said the Ill efforts to push sovereign citizens towards servitude will be frustrated.
In his address to a mass meeting organized by the Socialist Front Nepal in the federal capital on Friday, the Maoist leader said the maneuver to threaten and weaken the accomplishments founded on people’s struggle and sacrifice will not be allowed.
“Federal democratic republic is the dream of scores of Nepali citizens, including martyrs and those enforced disappeared,” he said, announcing that this achievement will be further protected and institutionalized.
Stating that reactionary forces attempted to reap benefits from some weaknesses on the part of republicans, he advised the incumbent government to improve its performance and focus on addressing the citizens’ aspirations. He also stressed the need of making corrections. “The constitution can be amended to find a room for further strengthening federal republic and improving the rights of women, Dalits and indigenous communities,” he added.
Also addressing the gathering, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal said, “Any residue of a ‘rule of dynasty’ is unacceptable and the attempts to restore such system will cost heavy.” The monarchy that failed to deliver for the good cause of the nation and citizens will not be restored, he said, referring to the ongoing pro-monarchy demonstration in the country.
Nepal Communist Party’s General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand viewed the authoritarianism that was defeated on the support of citizen’s struggle is attempting to revive. “There lies no possibility to move back from the federal democratic republic.”
Journey ahead is for progression, according to him.
Moreover, Chair of the Nepal Samajbadi Party, Mahindra Ray Yadav, accused reactionary forces of intending to push the nation towards difficulty. He stressed on unity among republic forces to further institutionalise federal democratic republic and make people feel the presence of good governance, economic prosperity and social justice.
CPN (Maoist Centre) Vice Chair Pampha Bhusal said no sovereign citizens are in favour of monarchy.
