Kathmandu, May 20: Economist Dr. Bishwo Paudel has been appointed as the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank. The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday evening.
Dr. Paudel becomes the 18th Governor of the central bank. His appointment follows the recommendation of the Governor Selection Committee, which had shortlisted three candidates: Acting Governor Dr. Neelam Dhungana, former Secretary Dinesh Bhattarai, and Dr. Paudel.
The Cabinet’s decision to appoint Dr. Paudel comes amid prior consensus between Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba to support his candidacy.
