Kathmandu, Nov 12: The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and Matribhumi Jagaran Abhiyan (Motherland Awakening Campaign) have agreed to work together to build a strong party.
NCP Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Co-convener Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jagaran Abhiyan founder Bhim Rawal have reached a seven-point agreement to unite the two parties today.
With the consensus, the party unity declaration meeting was held at the City Hall in Kathmandu today.
The two parties have agreed to move forward on the path of politics, national economy and culture free from external interference and pressure while upholding the interests of the people, national sovereignty, unity, independence, integrity, self-respect and self-determination.
Similarly, it is stated in the agreement that the National Unification Convention will be held within the next six months, which will be committed to economic-social transformation and prosperity based on the values of socialism and social justice.
It has been agreed that the date and venue of the general convention will be determined by the Secretariat as soon as possible, and the people active at all levels under the Matribhumi Jagaran Abhiyan, Nepal will be accommodated at the same level of the Nepali Communist Party of on mutual agreement.
The agreement states that the party’s statute, political report and policy and programme will be prepared together, the party will be run on the basis of the statute, and democratic values, collective leadership and democratic centralism will be followed, and a task force will be formed at different levels for party unification.
Rawal has been running the Matribhumi Awakening Campaign after being expelled from the CPN (UML).
