Court Allows Five-Day Custody of Oli and Lekhak for Investigation

Kathmandu, March, 29:  The Kathmandu District Court has granted permission to detain K P Sharma Oli, chair of CPN-UML, and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak for five days to facilitate further investigation.

A single bench of Judge Anand Prasad Shrestha on Sunday approved the remand extension. Government prosecutors had sought a 10-day custody period for the two leaders.

The arrests follow a recommendation by an investigation commission, which alleged their involvement in the suppression of the Gen-Z movement. Acting on the report, police took both into custody on Saturday.
