Kathmandu, March 1: Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has urged everyone to ensure that the March 5 election to House of Election is conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
Addressing the general public in a video message on Sunday, leader Dahal recalled the uncertain political situation that had unfolded in the wake of Gen Z movement last September. He spoke on his role in facilitating the formation of interim government and his firm stance for seeking a fresh public mandate.
NCP had played an important role in creating an enabling election environment, Dahal said, adding that he was confident the history would certainly evaluate that contribution. Dahal, also the former Prime Minister, mentioned that during his leadership in the government, efforts were made to ensure good governance and uphold the rule of law.
Noting that several major corruption scandals were exposed during his government, Coordinator Dahal vowed to give continuity to such anti-corruption drive in the future. “We tried to ensure good governance and rule of law during our leadership in the government but the government was changed in short time. We had consistently fought against corruption even when we were in opposition,” he said.
He also expressed confidence that that people would fairly evaluate the roles and contributions of all other political parties and cast their votes to the NCP. Dahal also called on all political parties, electoral candidates, security personnel and voters for exercising restraint and act responsibly in the election.
The Coordinator argued ensuring a successful election is a shared responsibility essential to further strengthen democratic process.
