Kirtipur, Feb 14: The Confucius Institute at Tribhuvan University (CI@TU), in collaboration with the China Cultural Center in Nepal and Laboratory Secondary School, Kirtipur, organized a vibrant Spring Festival celebration on Friday, marking the arrival of the Chinese New Year – the Year of the Horse.
The event brought together students, teachers, cultural enthusiasts, and distinguished guests for a day filled with cultural exchange and festive spirit. The program featured inspiring speeches highlighting Nepal-China friendship and the importance of cultural understanding.
Students from Laboratory School and CI@TU captivated the audience with lively songs and dances. The celebration also showcased impressive demonstrations of Taiji and Shaolin Kung Fu, along with poetry recitations presented by representatives from the China Cultural Center in Nepal.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, the China Cultural Center arranged a cultural exhibition displaying traditional Hanfu attire, tourism promotion materials, Horse Year and “Nihao Panda” stickers, keyrings, and various cultural souvenirs. Visitors also enjoyed a Chinese tea tasting and demonstration session, offering a glimpse into China’s rich tea culture.
During the program, Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality Mr. Krishnaman Dangol, Acting Dean of Department of Humanities and Social Science at TU Dr. Bamdev Adhikari, the Deputy Director of the China Cultural Center in Nepal Mr. Liu Zhan Ping, Principal of Laboratory Secondary School Mr. Lakpa Sherpa and Nepali Director of CI@TU Dr. Bal Ram Suwal extended warm wishes for a Happy Chinese New Year to all attendees, emphasizing continued friendship and cooperation between Nepal and China.
The celebration concluded on a joyful note, strengthening cultural ties and fostering mutual understanding as participants welcomed the Year of the Horse together.
